Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History
Educational Resources for educators

Welcome to the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History Educational Resources Center. Our site provides information on school and scout tours and school focus programs. We have provided educational materials with supplementary activites.

You can sign up for your visit for self-guided tours of our exhibits, guided tours of the Columbus ships or Special Focus Programs. All are offered during the hours of 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday though Saturday. The Museum is closed on Mondays.

Museum (Self-Guided Tour)
School groups can make a self-guided visit to the museum at no charge. Museum exhibits and displays can be used as extensions of classroom study or reinforcement of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) in the areas of science, social studies, and natural history. Adult supervisors are admitted with the students at no charge so that students are adequately supervised and can tour the museum in smaller supervised groups. This also provides better learning opportunities for students. One adult supervisor to every 10 students is expected, and up to 1 adult supervisor for every 5 students is admitted with the group at no charge. Additional adults are welcome to come with the group and will pay the group admission of $5.50 each.

The Columbus Ships (Guided Tour)
School Groups and Scout Groups are invited to board the Pinta and Santa Maria, and take a step back in time! These reproductions of Christopher Columbus' ships are based on extensive historical research. They are a unique venue for students to experience the historic voyages of Columbus and his crews. Join Museum guides as they share information on Columbus, his crew and their historic voyage. There is a $2.50 fee per student, and adult supervisors are free if kept to a one to five ratio with students. Extra adults are welcome to accompany the group and will pay the group admission of $5.50 each.

Focus Programs
School and other youth groups can choose to participate in a 30 minute hands-on staff presentation that focuses on specific subjects on science, natural history, and social studies. After the focus program, the group can tour the Museum on their own. Many exhibit areas correlate nicely with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills objectives.
